Description A.T. Cross Company designs and markets branded personal and business accessories. It operates in two segments, Cross Accessory Division and Cross Optical Group. The Cross Accessory Division segment manufactures and markets writing instruments consisting of ballpoint and fountain pens under the Cross brand name; and rolling ball pens and mechanical pencils under the Selectip brand name. This segment also manufactures and markets refills for its product types; FranklinCovey line of entry level price point refillable writing instruments; personal and business accessories, including leather goods, reading glasses, desk sets, and stationery items; and watches and cufflinks under the Cross brand name. It sells its products to customers through its direct sales force, manufacturers' agents or representatives, distributors, Cross retail store, and Website; and retail accounts, including gift stores, department stores, jewelers, stationery, office supply and pen specialty stores, and the United States military post exchanges in the United states and internationally. The Cross Optical Group segment designs, manufactures, and markets polarized sunglasses under the Costa and Native brand names. This segment also sells apparel and accessory products, such as hats, T-shirts, cords, cases, and backpacks. It sells sunglass products through its employee representatives and manufacturers' agents to approximately 7,600 retail accounts, including optical and sunglass specialty shops, department stores, and sporting goods retailers in the United States.
