Description Applied Minerals, Inc., an exploration stage mining company, produces and sells halloysite clay solutions. It owns interest in the Dragon Mine, a measured resource of halloysite clay located in the Tintic District of Utah, covering approximately 230 acres. Halloysite is non-toxic aluminosilicate clay, which is used in a range of applications, such as polymer composites flame retardant fillers, controlled-release carriers, paints and coatings, agriculture formulations, and cosmetics. It markets its portfolio of halloysite clay solutions under the Dragonite trademark. The Dragon Mine also contains an iron ore resource, which is used in pigments and technical applications, such as smoke suppression and remediation of arsenic and metal contamination. The company was formerly known as Atlas Mining Company and changed its name to Applied Minerals, Inc. in October 2009. Applied Minerals, Inc. was founded in 1924 and is based in New York, New York.
