It operates in four segments: Excess and Surplus Lines, Commercial Specialty, International Specialty, and Syndicate 1200. The Excess and Surplus Lines segment provides property, primary and excess casualty, and automobile and professional liability coverages for commercial enterprises, including contractors, manufacturers, distributors, property owners, retailers, restaurants, environmental consultants and contractors, and smaller medical facilities. This segment also offers coverage for small to medium size risks for the commercial and financial institutions, accountants, architects and engineers, lawyers, miscellaneous professions, employment practices, and real estate related accounts, as well as providers of information technology products and services. The Commercial Specialty segment underwrites coverages for small commercial businesses comprising office, retail operations, light manufacturing, services, and restaurants; provides title insurance policies for fine art and other collectibles; and operates a non-risk-bearing agency. This segment also offers general and automobile liabilities, property, inland marine, crime, public officials and educators legal liabilities, employment practices, law enforcement liability, and workers compensation coverage for counties, municipalities, public schools, and other local government units and districts. The International Specialty segment provides property catastrophe reinsurance; and underwrites general and products, directors and officers, errors and omissions, and employment practices liabilities for various clients; and specialty coverage for corporate, commercial, and small businesses. The Syndicate 1200 segment underwrites property, specialty, and non-U.S. liability insurance. The company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Pembroke, Bermuda.
