In addition, he is chairman of Channel Four Television Corporation, a non-executive chairman of Glas Cymru (Welsh Water) and a non-executive director of Pearson Group plc. He was Permanent Secretary to the UK Treasury and chaired the UK Parliamentary Financial Services and Markets Bill Joint Committee and was a non-executive chairman of Marks & Spencer Group plc and a non-executive director of British Land plc and Legal & General Group plc.
