Melvin Rhinelander
Description Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. Prior to November 10, 2006, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Extendicare Inc. (now Extendicare Real Estate Investment Trust) as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Extendicare Health Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Extendicare Inc. Following November 10, 2006, Mr. Rhinelander ceased being an employee of Extendicare Inc. and Extendicare Health Services, Inc., but remained on the Board of Trustees of Extendicare Real Estate Investment Trust as Vice Chairman until December 2008 and Chairman thereafter. He also serves as a director of Empire Company Limited (a Canadian company whose key businesses include food retailing and related real estate). Mr. Rhinelander joined the Extendicare group of companies in 1977 and served in a number of senior positions.
