Mercator Limited engages in shipping activities in India and Singapore. The company operates tankers for the transportation of wet bulk cargo, including crude oil and refined products, as well as for use as offshore storage facilities. It is also involved in the transportation of dry bulk commodities, such as coal and iron ore; and provision of various logistics solutions from the load port to the point of usage for thermal-based power plants and steel companies. The company owns 7 tankers with an aggregate capacity of 740,193 DWT; and 1 in-chartered chemical tanker with a capacity of 19,996 DWT. In addition, it owns coal mines in Indonesia and Mozambique, Africa; and engages in the coal mining, trading, handling, and logistics activities. Further, the company is involved in the exploration of petroleum from its oil and gas blocks; and provision of floating storage and offloading, and mobile offshore production services, as well as dredging services to various ports. As of March 31, 2012, it had a fleet of 14 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 1,271,224 DWT; 3 in-chartered vessels with an aggregate capacity of 278,340 DWT; and 5 trailer suction hopper dredgers and 1 cutter suction dredger. The company was formerly known as Mercator Lines Limited and changed its name to Mercator Limited in November 2011. Mercator Limited was incorporated in 1983 and is based in Mumbai, India.
