Michael Kauffman
Description Michael G. Kauffman, M.D., Ph.D., joined us in November 2009 as our interim chief medical officer and was appointed to the position of chief medical officer in February 2010. From December 2008 to November 2009, Dr. Kauffman was chief medical officer at Proteolix, Inc. and served on their board of directors from June 2006 to February 2009. From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Kauffman was president and chief executive officer of EPIX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (previously Predix Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), a pharmaceutical company. From 1997 to 2002, he held a number of senior medical and program leadership positions at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (now a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company). Earlier in his career, he served as medical director at Biogen Corporation (now Biogen Idec). Dr. Kauffman earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Amherst College and his M.D. and Ph.D. in molecular biology and biochemistry from Johns Hopkins.
